Catholic Relief Services 2016 Egan Journalism Fellowship – Funded International Reporting trip to Honduras & Guatemala

Description
Apply now for Catholic Relief Services‘ coveted 2016 Egan Journalism Fellowship. All journalists are encouraged to apply for an international reporting trip to Honduras and Guatemala, one of 100 countries where CRS works.

Catholic Relief Services’ Egan Journalism Fellowship recognizes journalists who demonstrate excellence in their reporting for Catholic media, and encourages them to increase their coverage of global poverty, social justice and development issues.
Journalists working for Catholic print, broadcast and online media, photographers and video journalists are eligible. A CRS selection committee will choose the Egan Journalism fellows from the pool of applicants. Selections will be based on the applicants’ ability to clearly articulate their interest in the fellowship, their commitment to Catholic social teaching and issues involving the poor as well as how the experience will enrich their work.
The fellowship program is named after Eileen Egan, CRS’ first lay staff member, who devoted 4 decades of her life to assisting refugees and helping the poor in Europe, Asia and Latin America. The fellowship’s goal is to foster increased international reporting in Catholic media, and to educate members of the Catholic community in the United States about its role living in solidarity with poor and vulnerable people.
Successful applicants will travel to Honduras and Guatemala to report on the root causes of migration out of Central America.
Deadline: Friday, April 22, 2016
