Apply for UN Women Grants Up to $1 Million USD

Description


The United Nations Trust Fund in Support of Actions to Eliminate Violence against Women is accepting applications for its 20th grant cycle (2016) from civil society organizations and government authorities. Special attention will be paid to applications from women’s rights, women-led, and small organizations (including youth organizations) in recognition of the contribution these make to reaching women and girls at the grassroots level.


The Fund for Gender Equality is UN Women’s grant-making mechanism dedicated exclusively to the economic and political empowerment of women. The fund selects grantee partners through a demand driven bi-annual call for proposals and since launching in 2009 has delivered USD 56.5 million to 96 programmes in 72 countries.

This year, the UN Trust Fund is looking to support organizations that qualify for to support organizations that qualify for funding under:
  1. The three programmatic areas of the UN Trust Fund’s 2015-2020 Strategy;
  2. A “special window” addressing violence against women and girls in the context of the current refugee crisis;
  3.  Those specifically invited to submit proposals.

Eligibility 

  • Civil society organizations and networks — including non-governmental, women’s and community-based organizations and coalitions and operational research institutions;
  • Government authorities at the national and local levels;
  • Innovative and pioneering programmes aimed at preventing and responding to all forms of violence against women and girls will be supported.

Grants


Applicants are invited to submit grant proposals for a minimum of USD 50,000 up to a maximum of USD 1 million for a period of two to three years.
